NextEra Energy is seeking an experienced Storage, Solar, or Wind Engineer to lead technical and strategic innovative initiatives that improve project value for our continuous growing renewables portfolio.
Battery Energy Storage -Strong electrical experience with (solar and/or storage) inverters and/or power systems engineering experience.
Solar -Civil and/or structural design of utility scale solar PV plants. Tracker experience
To be the most successful in this role the following skills and experience are required:
- 7+ Years of experience in storage, solar, and/or wind balance of system design, top tier equipment suppliers, technology, standards, and market intelligence
- Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in guiding engineering design architecture at a component-level, project-level, and portfolio level
- Has technical, commercial, and financial acumen
- Basic office skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A sense of ownership
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering
Additional desired qualifications:
- Utility-scale renewables experience
- Master’s Degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, civil, or chemical engineering
- Applicable commissioning or construction experience
Role:
- Identifies opportunities for new architecture, technologies, products, and install means and methods
- Interprets and summarizes industry trends and technology forecasts to make recommendations having significant impact on extensive engineering and related activities for the company
- Lead collaborations with internal teams, external engineering firms, construction firms and suppliers
- Evaluate products and/or services for accuracy and usability
- Quantify technical and financial value
- Develop presentations and communicate process, value, and status of initiatives to project and technology managers, and executives
- Facilitate and/or lead initiatives into process standards for future implementation
I am targeting those with DC and AC collection design experience for project size of >75MWs for Solar, >200MW-hrs for battery/energy storage and >50MW Wind. That could include equipment selection/sizing (including batteries, battery containers, HVAC, cables, inverters), architecture design layouts (including even developing 3-line and 1-line diagrams) and performing electrical and power flow studies. It is a bonus if they also have construction and/or commissioning experience of these type and size projects.
