This position will have the responsibility and authority to schedule and dispatch FPL generation resources to economically balance load and generation to meet real-time system conditions and to comply with applicable regulatory requirements and NERC reliability standards. This position is also responsible to evaluate and approve OASIS requests and Tags and for performing energy accounting functions. Also, has the capability to perform next-day generation planning function and can perform, on a temporary basis, certain system operator functions whenever the on-shift System Operator is away from desk (bathroom breaks, etc.).
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in related field of study or equivalent work experience
5+ years’ experience in a combination of the following areas:
Transmission Operator or Reliability Coordinator
Power systems field, planning, and/or operations
NERC certified operation experience
Power system – Professional certification
Advance ability with analysis and problem solving, integrity & compliance, communications, leadership, process/project management and professional skills.
Basic ability with commercial skills.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any related field of study or equivalent work experience
Power Coordinator certification
Primary (Essential) Job Functions (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary by the company.)
Perform load forecast to optimize the FPL generation dispatch mix. Use proper tools to project dispatch needs for the hours-ahead and update the Dispatch Plan to ensure sufficient generation resources are available to meet generation requirements while minimizing production costs.
Run Economy A program to provide EMT with generation and cost projections to be used for economy purchases and sales.
Economically dispatch the generation resources in real-time to minimize cost and maintain load-generation balance in FPL balancing area.
Coordinates committing, decommitting and outages of power plants with FPL System Operator and PGBU
Ensure rapid recovery from loss of generation to comply with NERC requirements.
Evaluate and approve OASIS requests.
Receive, evaluate, and approve/deny all Tags that involve FPL and Implement and verify all purchase, sales, and wheeling schedules in FPL interchange transaction system.
Perform hourly and on-peak/off-peak energy accounting functions with adjacent balancing authorities.
Determine, provide, and modify St. Lucie hourly schedules for St. Lucie participants. Develop, submit, and modify monthly Tags for FPL dynamic schedules.
Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements.
Ability to work extended hours.
Ability to work a varied schedule / rotating shift / evening / weekends / holidays as required.
Performance will be based on successful completion of all job functions up to the productivity standards and timeframes established and directed by Management.
