Pay Rate:  $75, Per Diem -$182/day

Project Manager (Engineering)
Responsible for management of project engineering support and daily coordination of engineering activities required to execute technical aspects of transmission projects and leading to achievement of business objectives. Projects will consist primarily of rate-regulated high voltage transmission projects (lines and substations) executed by the Engineering and Construction (E&C) group within NextEra. Duties consist of the translation of conceptual scope into engineering requirements and determination of engineering resource needs across a diverse portfolio of projects. The position is responsible for proposal through execution stages of projects, requiring the ideal candidate to be an excellent communicator with proven technical experience and skills that demonstrate a thorough understanding of the engineering project life cycle, as well as a strong business acumen related to transmission projects. Day to day activities as Project Manager include coordinating engineering activities, scoping, and solicitation of engineering services from outside consultants as necessary, input to routing and siting analysis, coordination of design review meetings, and tracking of design deliverables. The Project Manager will also be accountable for ensuring technical milestones are achieved and understanding the relationship of those milestones to the construction schedule, including long lead material delivery dates. The Project Manager will be responsible to assess technical risks, quantifying the potential impact, and provide mitigation recommendations. Assigned duties will also include providing a forward-looking evaluation of resource requirements on assigned projects, and input to the project schedule for engineering activities. Provide support, technical or otherwise, to the Project Engineer as needed to ensure the project objectives are met. Support the construction cost estimating team with assumptions and technical scope and communicate with the Early Stage Project Managers and Execution Project Managers on a regular basis. Act as the conduit between NextEra businesses and E&C Engineering team on assigned projects; this may include presentations on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in design with additional proven experience in development, and construction of High Voltage Transmission and Substation projects ideally gained through employment with one of the following: transmission developer, electrical utility, or engineering consultant. To be successful in this role, candidate must be able to demonstrate exceptional, experience-based project management skills, excellent technical writing and communication proficiency, ability to adapt to changing priorities, and analytical and problem-solving skills, all within in a corporate environment.
Preferred
Project Management with direct oversight of engineering activities and ability to contribute to organization’s business objectives with little to no ramp up time. PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline is a plus.
