DELAY ANNOUCED FOR COMMERCIAL OPERATON OF VOGTLE UNIT 4.

During pre-operational testing and startup of Vogtle Unit 4, a problem with one of the Reactor Coolant Pumps was encountered and will require replacement. Georgia Power said a spare is on hand, but the replacement and subsequent testing will prevent commercial operation for Unit 4 by the end of the year.

Vogtle Unit 3 safely reached commercial operations this past summer. Despite the setback, Vogtle Unit 4 is still on schedule for commercial operation during the 1st Quarter of 2024.

These two units are the first new nuclear units in the U.S. in over 30 years and promise to provide reliable, emissions-free energy for decades to come.
