Mr. Don Moul is now the President and Chief Executive Officer for TVA. He is the fourth CEO at TVA, succeeding Jeff Lyash. Like Lyash, he brings many years of experience and expertise in power generation and operations – over 38 years.
Tennessee Valley Public Power Association, Inc. (TVPPA), President and CEO, Doug Peters said, “This is a crucial time for TVA as its leaders pursue today’s opportunities, prepare for tomorrow’s steeply rising power demand, and deliver on its core mission of improving life in the Tennessee Valley”.
Mr. Moul is well suited to fulfill Mr. Peter’s concerns as he has been a licensed SRO (Senior Reactor Operator) at multiple US nuclear stations and he has held various leadership positions (primarily nuclear), at American Electric Power (AEP), Duquesne Light Company, First Energy, GPU Nuclear Corporation, NextEra, Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG), and has been the Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer with TVA since 2021.
At FirstEnergy, from 2004 to 2019, he served as President and Chief Nuclear Officer, leading their nuclear fleet to its best performance year in history in 2018. At NextEra, from 2019 to 2021, he helped transform the NextEra Energy’s nuclear culture, leading to fleet-wide operational efficiencies and more efficient work processes. In 2023, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee appointed him to serve on the Tennessee Nuclear Energy Advisory Council focusing on nuclear innovation and driving continued investment to create a nuclear energy ecosystem for the future of Tennessee.
