Position Specific Description
Looking for a motivated individual to help tackle the nuclear fleet’s parts and component challenges in the Procurement Engineering Department located at our Jupiter West Corporate Office. The Procurement Engineer (PE) is responsible for ensuring that the parts being ordered and requested are able to maintain the design, license, and tech specs of the associated plant. The PE will be performing Evaluations to set-up purchase requirements and associated testing/certification, Item-Equivalency Evaluations (IEEs) to combat Obsolete/unavailable items, and reviewing challenges with parts upon receipt (OSDDs).
Electrical PE will work with power plant electrical equipment such as motors, digital control boards, switchgear, transformers, relays, circuit breakers, electrical distribution systems, etc. Mechanical PE will be associated with Valves, pipes, materials, chemicals, pumps, etc. There are many opportunities for cross training and hands on experience. Procurement Engineering supports cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Licensing teams to drive fleet-wide success.
Job Overview
This engineering position will support project, operational, and outage work when parts are requested from the nuclear fleet. Engineering employees perform fundamental engineering tasks requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria, and maintaining the design established by site and design engineers. All employees participate in engineering analysis and evaluation processes, apply broad nuclear plant engineering experience and principles to make decisions and recommendations, and work with varying degrees of independence based on experience level.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs fundamental to highly complex engineering activities requiring application of standard techniques through nuclear industry standards and regulations
- Participates in and leads analysis and evaluation of engineering problems
- Develops test activities to evaluate recommended solutions and analyzes data for result inconsistencies
- Provides oversight for engineering vendor activities and performs owners’ acceptance reviews on deliverables (SDN, SDR, 4016, etc not Factory Acceptance FAT or Nonconformance NCR)
- Coordinates and serves as technical liaison within nuclear business units and other company departments
- Leads discussions and trainings in group settings to resolve problems or coordinate production and Operating Experience
- Applies nuclear industry standards and regulations to solve new problems and address situations
- Ensures successful implementation of all assigned projects with schedule ownership
- Supports refueling outages, emergent modifications, and other Procurement Engineering responsibilities
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s – Engineering
- Experience 0- 5 years
Preferred Qualifications
- Nuclear Experience
- NAMS Asset Suite Experience
- Test Engineer or Hands on Experience with Equipment
- Microsoft Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc)
- AI Experience using NEE.AI, CoPilot, ChatGBT – Specifically the assistant functionality
- ASME Code Experience and Knowledge is preferred for Mechanical Engineers, but not required.
- Chemical and Material Engineering is a plus for Mechanical PE, but not required.
- Experience with digital items and cybersecurity (CDA) is preferred for Electrical PE, but not required.
Special Requirements
Nuclear Specific Requirements:
- Positions require comprehension of engineering principles, theory, and their application to power plant systems, components, and structures
- May Require to be On-Call and support Nuclear Outages after normal work hours under very flexible scheduling, benefits, and hybrid environment opportunities.
