Friends of the Earth and the Sierra Club have both challenged state regulators with its decision to let Dominion Energy buy SCE&G and charge ratepayers for VC Summers failed nuclear project.
The 2 environmental groups filed their protest with the commission on Monday stating that the public service commission should have officially made a determination about whether SCE&G handled the nuclear project appropriately. As well as arguing that “SCE&G fraudulently lied, misled and withheld material information” about the problems at VC Summer.
The PSC scolded SCE&G this month, saying it had damaged the public’s trust. But regulators stopped short of formally saying they had been misled.
The decision will unlikely be overturn by regulators who made the decision, but the move now sets the stage for an appeal to the state Supreme Court.
