US power use will rise to a record 4,022 billion kilowatt-hours in 2022 and 4,045 billion kWh in 2023, with natural gas and coal generating more than 55% of that power, the Energy Information Administration forecasts. Nuclear energy’s share is seen dropping from 20% in 2021 to 19% in 2022 and 2023, while renewable power generation will climb to 22% this year and 24% next year. |
