HAVE YOU THANKED THE UNSUNG HEROS IN YOUR BUSINESS LATELY?

In most of the businesses I’ve had the privilege to work in throughout my career, there are always the “glamorous” positions and the “not-so-glamorous” positions.

I remember one of the first big events I attended as a GE Engineer many, MANY, years ago. It was a yearly meeting that the company was holding in Orlando, Florida, and I was blown away at all the huge prizes that the sales team members were winning…things like exotic trips and cruises…while we lowly engineers sat on the sidelines. (Nothing against sales folks…you all do a job that I could never do.)

I’m sure that things have changed now, and before I left, I saw many accolades for the engineers, especially during the annual Engineers Week. But it makes me wonder: are we still leaving lots of other people and positions out when we show our appreciation? What about those who make important contributions, day-in and day-out, with no special “week” or awards banquets?

For GTTSi (and every other business out there), one of our most vital functions is payroll. Navigating the maze of federal and state laws and regulations to make sure people are paid accurately and on time isn’t glamorous, but it certainly is essential. We are fortunate that there are people who do this both well and willingly!

Thank you to our payroll leader, Debbie, who makes sure that the GTTSi team gets their paycheck! (Our Chief Technical Consultant, Sid Crouch, has gotten us in the habit of saying “Thank You, Debbie” at the end of weekly staff meetings for this very reason.)

Who are the unsung heroes in your business that you should thank today?
