“IF” is a poem written by Rudyard Kipling.  The poem lists some of the virtues necessary to become a complete and honorable person, including patience, perseverance, self-confidence, and humility.  A central theme is the ability to endure setbacks and rise above them, recognizing that both triumph and disaster are temporary.  Even though this poem was written as paternal advice many years ago, it continues to be great advice for anyone.
