Job Summary

GTTSi is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support Battery Energy Storage System projects within an Engineering and Construction organization. This position will coordinate internal and external resources across Development, Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Construction.

The Project Manager will oversee multiple projects at various stages, beginning in early-stage development and continuing through pre-construction turnover. The successful candidate will ensure project teams remain focused on the appropriate activities, risks, and deliverables required to maintain schedules and prepare each project for successful construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate highly matrixed project teams to meet schedules, milestones, and business objectives.
  • Manage multiple BESS projects at varying stages of development and pre-construction.
  • Coordinate environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, permitting, and interconnection activities.
  • Develop and manage project technical scopes.
  • Optimize project variables to strengthen technical and financial feasibility.
  • Support Power Purchase Agreement and Generator Interconnection Agreement negotiations.
  • Coordinate engineering, estimating, scheduling, procurement, and construction-planning requirements.
  • Provide technical project information to engineering teams to support design development.
  • Support cost-estimating teams with inputs for project financial models.
  • Research and apply relevant market data to strengthen cost assumptions and financial forecasts.
  • Present financial models to business leaders and manage them through executive budget approvals.
  • Source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for geotechnical, surveying, engineering, EPC, and construction services.
  • Manage suppliers, consultants, contractors, and other external partners.
  • Use project-management and reporting applications to maintain critical data, track deliverables, and report key performance indicators.
  • Identify and support process improvements that increase efficiency and enable continued growth.
  • Communicate with executive leadership, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Present project status, risks, mitigation plans, and recommendations to various levels of management.
  • Develop inclusive and executable construction plans for turnover to the Construction Project Manager.
  • Represent and protect the Engineering and Construction organization’s interests across assigned projects.
  • Travel occasionally to project locations and support local public hearings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least five years of project management, engineering, construction, development, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong project management, communication, financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively across technical, commercial, regulatory, and construction teams.
  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout the United States and Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting the engineering, development, or construction of renewable-energy projects.
  • Knowledge of BESS projects, electricity markets, renewable generation, or utility-scale infrastructure.
  • Experience with project financial models, cost estimating, procurement, and commercial contract negotiations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Project Management Professional certification.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and commercially aware project leader who can manage several complex BESS projects simultaneously. This individual should be comfortable coordinating diverse technical teams, reviewing financial information, managing project risks, negotiating with suppliers, and communicating project status to executive leadership.
