Senior Scrum Master – Contractor

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master to support enterprise technology initiatives within the IT organization. This contractor will lead Agile ceremonies, support hybrid delivery frameworks, and improve cross-functional team performance across complex, enterprise-scale programs.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting large ERP implementations, system integrations, or digital transformation initiatives, preferably within Financial Operations, Supply Chain, utilities, energy, finance, or another regulated industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies for one or more high-performing teams, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Coach Product Owners, team members, and stakeholders on Agile principles, practices, and effective delivery methods.
  • Monitor and report team velocity, burn-down metrics, sprint goals, impediments, and overall delivery performance.
  • Navigate hybrid Agile and Waterfall delivery models, including stage-gate governance requirements.
  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and impediments across multiple teams and workstreams.
  • Translate delivery progress, risks, and outcomes into executive-level insights for IT leadership and steering committee audiences.
  • Lead retrospectives that produce clear, actionable, and measurable improvements.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across delivery teams.
  • Contribute to Agile maturity, best-practice development, and Agile Center of Excellence initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master I or II (PSM I/II) certification.
  • Five or more years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach supporting enterprise-scale initiatives.
  • Experience leading teams through large-scale ERP implementations, system integrations, or digital transformations.
  • Proficiency with Agile project-management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or VersionOne.
  • Working knowledge of Waterfall, phase-gate, or other structured project-delivery methodologies.
  • Strong executive-level communication, facilitation, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe Agilist certification; SAFe Practice Consultant certification is highly desirable.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Advanced Agile certifications such as CSP-SM, A-CSM, or ICP-ACC.
  • Experience supporting Financial Operations programs, including:
    • Accounts payable and invoice processing
    • Financial-close activities
    • Audit-related technology initiatives
  • Experience supporting Supply Chain programs, including:
    • Procurement and sourcing
    • Materials and inventory management
    • ERP-integrated planning platforms
    • SAP MM/WM, Kinaxis, or GEP
  • Experience within utilities, energy, finance, or another regulated industry.
  • Change-management or organizational-development experience.
  • A track record of delivering initiatives valued at $50 million or more with measurable business outcomes.
