Numerous U.S. electric utilities, led by Southern Company, made the grade in the Military Times’ annual “Best for Vets” ranking of employers nationwide.
Six electric utilities were named in the Top 100 of all companies hiring veterans – Southern Company, ConEdison, Consumers Energy, Dominion Energy, Xcel, and National Grid US.
Georgia-based Southern Company was ranked No. 2 overall, for the second year in a row. Southern Company said that 12% of’ their new hires were veterans and overall, 10% of all their employees are veterans.
Consolidated Edison of New York (ConEdison) was ranked 8th, Michigan-based Consumers Energy 28th, Dominion Energy 41st, Xcel Energy 45th, and National Grid 93rd. Other energy-related companies named included Accenture, Leidos and Eaton in the top 100, while Siemens was ranked just beyond the top 100 at 104th.
